Success Stories

It is often difficult to measure the success of intervention efforts and the positive effect it can have on an individual’s life as well as other family members. Examples of successful intervention activities are presented for that purpose. The names have been changed to ensure privacy for these individuals.

Valarie was referred to the JAC for truancy and struggling with academic success in most of her classes. Valarie was also a teen mother and on probation. The assessment scored high on anxiety and it was learned Valarie had not attended school for the past two years. Valarie’s mother and aunt were enlisted to provide support by caring for Valarie’s child while she attended school. Referrals were made to the Nurse Partnership program and tutoring support at the school she attended. Within a short period of time she was able to bring her grades up and attended school regularly. As Valarie was on probation, these recommended services were given to and supported by the Probation Department.
