Success Stories

It is often difficult to measure the success of intervention efforts and the positive effect it can have on an individual’s life as well as other family members. Examples of successful intervention activities are presented for that purpose. The names have been changed to ensure privacy for these individuals.

Stephanie was referred to the JAC as a high risk youth from her school. Both parents and Stephanie attended the assessment which showed concerns for emotional and anger issues. A week later, Stephanie’s mother reported Stephanie started “cutting” herself. Staff recommended counseling, anger management and possibly mentoring services. After some hesitation, Stephanie started seeing a therapist and was no longer “cutting” herself. She began playing sports in school and improved her grades to ensure her eligibility to continue playing sports. The parents reported Stephanie is doing well and they have had no further problems occur.
